Activating a Passive Radon Mitigation System in Cary

Not every home with a passive radon system is ready to be activated with the simple addition of a fan. In this project, the homeowner contacted Triangle Radon Defense after elevated radon levels were discovered. During our inspection, we found that while the home included a passive radon vent pipe, key components required for an effective mitigation system were missing.

To ensure the system would perform properly, we created a suction pit beneath the slab to improve soil gas collection, installed a radon fan to actively depressurize the foundation, and extended the vent pipe through the roof after discovering it had been terminated in the attic. These modifications allowed the system to safely vent radon gas outside the home while maximizing its effectiveness.

With the system now professionally designed and activated, the homeowner can enjoy greater peace of mind knowing their home has a radon mitigation system built to current industry standards.

Radon Mitigation System Installation

Anna was helping her father purchase a new home when elevated radon levels were discovered during the inspection, above the EPA’s action level of 4.0 pCi/L. Wanting to ensure the home would be safe before move-in, she contacted us at Triangle Radon Defense for guidance.

We walked Anna and her father through multiple mitigation design options, carefully considering both optimal air quality performance and the home’s visual appearance. After selecting the best solution for their needs, our team completed the radon mitigation installation promptly, ensuring everything was in place before move-in day.

Now, they can move forward with confidence, knowing the home’s indoor air quality is safer and healthier for years to come.

Radon Mitigation System Install, Raleigh

Dana contacted Triangle Radon Defense after a recent radon test revealed elevated radon levels in his home, even though a radon mitigation system had been installed several years earlier during the home buying process. Concerned about the safety of his indoor air quality, he reached out to our team for a professional evaluation.

Michael, our Radon Solutions Specialist, performed a detailed inspection of the existing radon mitigation system and determined the original suction point was poorly located, limiting sub-slab communication and reducing the system’s effectiveness. To improve radon reduction and overall system performance, we designed and installed a new radon mitigation system with a more centralized suction location to create better pressure field extension beneath the foundation.

To maintain the home’s curb appeal, we installed a black radon mitigation system and routed the vent pipe alongside the gutter for a clean, low-visibility appearance.

Now, Dana and his family can enjoy safer indoor air and peace of mind knowing their home is protected by an effective radon mitigation system professionally installed by Triangle Radon Defense.

Radon Fan Swap, Raleigh

Our client contacted us after noticing a loud noise coming from the fan on her existing radon mitigation system. The system had been installed previously by another company, so she reached out to us for a consultation. Michael inspected the system and quickly identified that the fan needed to be replaced.

While evaluating the system, we also noticed a few opportunities to improve its overall performance. Older mitigation systems don’t always meet today’s best practices, so we provided several recommendations to bring the system up to modern standards.

During the fan replacement, we discovered the source of the noise and unfortunately, a bird had entered the discharge pipe and become caught in the fan. This is exactly why every system we install includes a critter guard at the top of the discharge line to prevent animals from entering the pipe.

With the new fan installed and the recommended improvements made, the system is now operating quietly and effectively again, restoring proper radon mitigation and peace of mind for the homeowner.

Radon Mitigation, Raleigh

Chris discovered elevated radon levels in his home and contacted Triangle Radon Defense for a solution. After evaluating the property, we designed a custom sub-slab depressurization system for his unfinished basement. The system was strategically installed to effectively reduce radon intrusion and improve indoor air quality throughout the home. Now, Chris can enjoy greater peace of mind knowing his home has healthier, safer air.
